“Actor-based model for network and behavior dynamics.”
By René Veenstra and Christian Steglich, 2012.
Forthcoming in Brett Laursen, Todd D. Little, and Noel A. Card (eds.), Handbook of Developmental Research Methods. New York: Guilford.
This chapter of the Handbook of Developmental Research Methods gives an introduction to stochastic actor-based modelling of network evolution processes for developmental psychologists, with special emphasis on the detection of peer influence effects. As illustration of the method, the dynamics of a school cohort of adolescents' hanging around the street are analysed, in co-dependence with the dynamics of the adolescents' friendship network.
